On this month of Black British History I want us to celebrate the life of a person with whom I share the same South American heritage. Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos also known as Yung Filly.

Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos is a popular British YouTuber and Rapper. He was born in Santiago de Cali Colombia on the 6th of August 1995. Growing up in London Filly was influenced by diverse cultures. He initially wanted to be a football player, but later discovered his love for creating content. Filly is not just a social media star, he is a talented entertainer who is always growing with new innovative ideas. His journey from wanting to be a football player to becoming a well-known creator and musician shows his dedication. As he continues to explore new projects, Filly inspires many young creators. His story shows that with hard work and creativity, you can achieve your dreams. Filly's story includes his experience as a refugee. This experience shaped his identity and perspective on life.

Growing up in London, he faced challenges that many children of immigrants do, including adapting to a new culture and language. Yang Filly's journey from refugee to a beloved entertainer is a powerful narrative of resilience and creativity. He continues to evolve as an artist, using his experiences to connect with a diverse audience. Through humour, music, and storytelling. Yang Filly gained significant popularity through his involvement with the beta Squad, a collective of popular YouTubers. Yang Filly returned from hiatus in2024 with a new song: Grey. Released in January 2024. He says this song was inspired by his Colombian heritage and his girlfriend

  Back when I was in year 11 I told a substitute teacher to fuck off. This happened because she would always listen to everyone’s version and not mine. For some reason she labled me difficult. How Has My Relationship With My Parents Changed Since Exams ?

  After seeing my exam results my parents realised they had to put their foot down. Because the next step, sixth form, is not going to be a joke. I’ve also been more quiet, reserved, even though I have always been this way. People ask me if I’m going to miss secondary school, my answer is not at all. The only thing I miss is wearing my school uniform. Sometimes you need to let the past go. I’m looking forward for what the future has for me. I’m creating my brand, and growing my community on social media. I will be offering a custom complete makeup kit, lashes and a clothing line. I don’t have a name yet and I’m fully open to ideas. As she turned 16 HMRC has issued her a National Insurance number which she can use to apply for jobs. It has been in the pipeline for a few years now that Blessing was going to grow her online community as a content creator (see dates of previous blog posts ). As business owners we understand the work time and consistency that goes into starting a business and scaling it. We have been mentoring her on the necessary steps to take to own and monetise her presence online and consistently creating content that is uplifting, fun and educating.
